Preservative Efficacy Testing

Our testing plays an important role in protecting raw materials and finished products from performance, safety and aesthetic issues. We can support everything from early stage R&D samples to finished product samples.

Antimicrobial preservatives are analyzed for their ability to protect a variety of products from microbial contamination. ATL analyzes samples using USP, CTFA, AOAC, or ASTM methods, as well as requirements of the FDA’s (cGMP) and (GLP) guidelines.

We routinely perform tests for health care, personal care, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, devices, paints, coatings and specialty items:

  • CTFA M-3, M-4, M-5
  • USP <51>, JP, EP
  • AOAC
  • Client provided or developed tests

Preservative neutralization validations or verifications using ASTM, USP, or client specific methods are also available. Common validation and verification methods include:

  • USP <1227> and <1223>
  • USP <61> and <62>
  • CTFA
  • AOAC E-1054
  • Client Specific
